A scenic 20-min drive with sprawling desert landscape will take you to thrift shops, restaurants and bars in Yucca Valley, and famous Pioneertown is only a few minutes from there.
A 20-min drive will lead you into the heart of Joshua Tree, where there are more shops, cafes, and art galleries. The National Park is a perfect place for a picnic with its giant boulders, numerous trails, rock climbers and wildlife.

Did you know going a day without a shower is actually GOOD for you? There are trillions of mitochondria on the skin that support your health; there are natural oils that keep your skin hydrated and happy; and on a larger scale, an average 8.2 minute shower uses 17.2 gallons of water. Of course, how often one showers is a personal choice, but perhaps skipping Saturday this once isn't a terrible idea... just remember to bring wipes for the important bits.
